What Graphics card(s) ?

So I'm looking to upgrade my old 8800 GTS and I've got a budget of £200-ish

I've been reading reviews and the ATi cards seem to be very strong at the moment (the 4850 & 4870) - are they the best bang for my buck?

Also would I better getting 2 cheaper cards and crossfiring them?

Any advise is much appreciated

Go for the fastest single card you can afford - i.e. a decent HD4870 is well in your price range and still leaves enough for a couple of rounds at the pub. That way you can boost performance further down the line by adding another card when they're far cheaper/second hand from ebay.

Is an 8800GTS really worth upgrading already? I've got a GTX and I'm not feeling the need to change, they're not that different are they?

Quite a bit of difference if its the 320mb GTS - I can imagine that some things like Crysis will be struggling with higher resolutions. Doubt my GT will cope too well if I was to get a bigger screen and silly res

Aye it's the 320mb one so it wasn't exactly great when I got it 1½ years ago. I've since bought a 22" LCD and games like Crysis (and WAR!) struggle at 1680x1050.

I'll look around for deals on a 4870, thanks Kryten

I think the same really. My monitors native resolution is 1280x1024 and played Crysis ok on a 8800GTS. It probably could have been a bit better, but so could the game couldnt it The way I feel there's no game worth buying that is going to stretch the video card at the moment.

The 8800GT, GTX, Ultra or GTS 512mb are fine yes, the GTS320/640 - not so much.

HD4870 is your best bet in that pricerange, you won't be dissapointed
