Kids Laptop

Guys,

Friend of ours eldest boy (12 year old) is looking for a laptop for himself.

wants to do all the normal things suxh as bebo, internet etc but also wants to play games such as Spore and possibly COD4.

he saw this laptop from Dell in PCWORLD Dell 1720 Laptop - Buy cheap Dell laptops including the Dell 1720 at PC World.

which he took a shine to - only problem was that PCWorld dont have any AT ALL.

can anyone recommend, for the same sort of money, a laptop that would suit his needs?

Have you tried building a laptop on Dells website?

I've heard that HP entertainment laptops can be quite cheap and still yummy, not entirely sure where to get them from though

e.g. HP 530 - Core 2 Duo T5200 / 1.6 GHz - RAM 2 GB - HDD 160 GB - DVDRW (+R double layer) / DVD-RAM - GMA 950 Dynamic Video Memory Technology 3.0 - WLAN : 802.11a/b/g - Vista Home Basic - 15.4 - Ebuyer

rynnor has disabled reputation
Woah - 12 year old boy on the net? I think they might want to prioritise some parental control software, very good firewall/virus scanner and some content filtering stuff otherwise that sucker will be full of virus/trojans/porn within a few weeks :P

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi 2528 T8100 2GB 250GB

Here's one I found from Fujitsu Siemens 649 GBP inc Vat. Nice Spec for the price T8100 with 2Gb Ram and the dedicated 256Mb DDR2 Ram on a 8600M should handle most games easily enough.

it works ok for me, its a more generic app, can be set to block peer to peer and keywords

so if you google for "monster cock and tits" for example, it just shuts the browser down. It also look in the url for keywordfs and shuts the browser down then as well
