Secret Weapons over Normandy

I truly miss playing a good, entertaining flightsim - I used to play WWII Fighters by Jane' back in '99. Was great fun online, too.

IL2 was as dry as an old army biscuit.

And so the other day I spotted SWoN at Walmar- and remembered the fun I had with Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe more than a decade ago.
Has anyone here played it yet? Any good.

Gifv feedback ffs!

Edit: Oh... there is a demo on Bileplanet -> there you go...

I played the demo.

Was fun for about 5 minutes before you get all dizzy and a bad headache from the spinning and diving.

Also it takes "Arcade" to a new level.

I've played the demo aswell, personally, I like my flying games as sim'y as possible, so the very much arcadey nature of this game didnt really appeal to me

Damn...

Well, SWOTL was pretty sim'y, so I thought I might get lucky.
I guess the times of flight sims are over - at least the WWII oriented ones.

I'd dl the demo but 160 mb is too much for my current dial up.

Thanks for the advice, guys.

I think a good one, if you havent played it, is B17 Flying Fortress : The Mighty 8th. It's not new (a couple of years old at least), but its certainly one of the better flight sims for WW2. Yeah, the main campaign involves taking a B17 up / managing its crew, but you can do single missions involving P51, 109s etc.

Having said that tho, the beauty of the game is in playing as the B17.

It's the follow up to the one from the early 90s, of roughly the same name

You can get it on the cheap now, http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=search&adudisc=y (although Play are currently out of stock), but well worth a purchase.

I have B17 II - last Microprose game evar.

Didn't like it too much tbh - I am more of a Me109 jockey.
I still have WWII Fighters installed but I want to play it online and Jane's Fighter Lobby has been dead since two years or so.

Ah well... *sighs and goes to play CoD*
