gamesabastard!
I was going for the "Go big or go home" and "A good offence is the best defence", I did a map using only cap ships and no tactical structures and it didnt unlock either because I started with 4 gausss cannons and a few crappy frigates ( I didnt build any of them hence I fulfilled the wording for the requirements ). slsd;ssl;slsslslslslslsss fcking game. |

Anyone else notice the starcraft "terran bunker" noise on the TEC Gauss platforms?
Nostalgia to the face ![]() Great game, played it for a few hours, I like it but it does seem to lack depth in a way, but its good fun for a few hours, I havent had a massive empire yet, I've just started a game with 5 star systems, something like 105 planets in total, eek! I wish there was a way to demand that the AI players do missions for you - it seems a bit onesided that you respond to thier requests all the time. So far playing against normal AI I seem to get on ok with groups of 4 capital ships, atleast one of which with the shield recharge ability, have a couple to respond to invasions and a couple to go out hunting. As long as you have alot of gauss platforms and repair yards the defending groups seem to get on fine even with the massive zergs that turn up, while the hunting groups have to pick thier targets a little more carefully. This probably isnt going to be a tactic thats valid all through the game, just something that I've been doing in my first few hours. Once you get the upgrades sorted though those capital ships are really quite scary! The frigates/cruisers seem a little underpowered in a way so far, but I'm sure I'll need them once I go up against hard AI. I like the general gist of the game though, its really quite good fun and it gets you thinking about things a bit. I dont think i'll bother with multiplayer though, I tend to play for a couple of hours then get bored rather suddenly, then go back to it later on. definately good fun though.

Reminds me a lot of Homeworld (look at those ships, what a rip-off!) and Pax Imperia/Galciv. The tech tree seems small, but takes ages to complete.
Nice that you get a free capital ship with the shipyard.

Just bought it - great game - if you get a key planet between 3 sides you can get some great ongoing battles

Sins Plus 1.1 is out, collection of some of the best mods, including more capital ship action I think.
The Star Trek "Sacrifice of Angels" mod is out in an early beta mode, but it doesn't work very well at all and still needs a huge amount of work. Still, its good to see it coming down the pipe. I'm looking forward to the micro-expansions - optional expansions that you can buy individually and pick and choose what you feel like paying with. I'm not very good at these games and am a fairly typical turtle but despite being a turtle killer, still very much enjoying this game. I want someone to do a Master of Orion mod!
