Get the "Lands to Conquer" mod. Sadly the game is unplayable unmodded due to computer AI being ridiculously stupid.

Is it worth sticking to the original Medeival or should I try out Rome Total War, seeing as its a bargain price now?

rome total war is worth playing regardless of experience with MTW 1 or 2(infact it has some points i prefer to M2TW)

the expansion previewed in PC Gamer looks immense though

If you are refering to Medieval Total War 1 then I can't say for sure because I've never played it. Rome Total War I would regard as a definite purchase, some good hours of fun that game. Not that big difference between Medieval Total War II and Rome Total War apart from the obvious different time setting and enhanced graphics.

I laoded up Medival Total War because im too poor to buy the newer one. I love that game, nothing beats longbowmen + hill = win!

which sadly is why they tore the arse out of bow damage in MTW2
and you cant get Swiss Armoured Pikemen any more , well unless your the pope

the much delayed 1.2 patch it however out now, which goes some way to fixing it

Pfft, longbows carved through anything in the real world to be honest, its well documented what happened at places like Agincourt, with the Welsh being masters of the longbow before the English. Hell, Henry 8th banned football and other Sunday sports so the youngsters could practise archery.

Just a question about Medieval, coming abck after like 2 years, is there anyway to open trade routes or is it done automatically? My ports seem to be generating 0 income, maybe thats how they are supposed to be

Don't you need friendly ships in all the ocean segments connecting you to your trade partners before your ports will begin generating income?

I've gotten used to it again. Started as Danemark, spanked those pesky Scandinvaians in the North, had a crack at those Latvians. Then waited for the French and English to fight, before sending my Viking hordes to attack Scotland with my main forces ripping England's back line to shreds!

They have made a stronghold in ireland, I may let them live because im a little patriotic after all....

you know they changed the map system for RTW and MTW2 ? its not risk any more, its done as whole areas, rather than in each county, which makes it a lot easier to do stuff.

Pfft, I just take his lands.

He has a pissweak army and me being the most dominant Catholic nation, noone dares mess with me!

As Danemark completely spanked the Frence/German alliance, then moved onto to England before finishing up with the Russians!

Then decided to push back to Danmark with my main force, wiped out the Polish on the way.

Then the Almohads sent a zerg onto my shaky Southern Front, those pesky Spaniards didnt fight hard enough!

The pope isn't very powerful.

As England, I own Rome and there are only 2 other Catholic factions left and whenever the pope threatens to discommunicate me I will try to buy his favour first or just send an army out of Rome and kill him and his forces and because I hold almost all the cardinal places the pope is always elected by me.

aye once you control the college of cardinals you can do what you like really

i attacked the french as the spanish (with 10 cardials and a pope being spanish) and they got excommunicated for fighting back
