spawning help

ok i know how to spawn some stuff but the marines dont move and follow me about like the marines in the game?? how do i get them to do this?? is use

spawn monster_grunt ect and
spawn char_marine ect

but the marines seem to do nothing unless there is a monster in the way? how do i get them to do somthing?? and alsso how do i get them to spawn with diffrent guns? eg railgun ect??
