Come Pc Experts!

there we go...

to give you motivation(big one),if someone help me fix my PC problem in next 48 hours he get really really huge reward from me!I wont write it here coz I am not sure if it is against the Freedys rules to do it...

anyway, will drop everything I know about my problem:

without any reason I started getting PC freezz while playing daoc and after few seconds of that I get blue screen, psychical memory dump coused by gfx card file...

I called one company in my town and two "PC geeks" cleaned my PC fully of viruses...so thats not my problem!

my gfx card is Nvidia GeForce 6800,128MBs

I cleaned all of mine PC coolers and for half hour blue screens stoped but freezzing continued!

also tryed 5 different gfx card drivers, still same problem with any of them!

with Sandra Lite program I get msg my Video BIOS needs update(cant find it on web but tbh,I dont have a clue what that is even and is it possible that could sort my problem? )

tryed reinstalling whole daoc, tryed checking all files etc etc...

tryed playing need for speed carbon demo to check if problem will repate and it DID!

the gfx card has cooler on it btw...I am preatty sure that problem is that card is overheating, becouse you could almost burn your fingers if you try to touch it when play daoc...and ofc in next few mins I get bloody blue screen)

(its 7am here atm and I might forgot some info, but I will check this thread alot to see your ideas or questions)

ANY QUESTIONS DROP ON MY MAIL amase.amase@hotmail.com AND ASWELL YOU CAN ASK ME BY MAIL WHAT IS REWARD!!!

thanx in advance

Amase

I assume you run Windows XP ?

On the Blue screen ( BSOD! - Blue screen of death ) theres an Error ID. If you write that down on a piece of paper and search on Microsuck for that code, then you should get an explernation of where the problem was caused.

Im pretty sure that its not your BIOS that needs an update, but more a RAM problem.. Either the system RAM or the RAM on your GFX card, and if its the gfx card then you have a problem ^^

Do you have another gfx card somewhere that you can test with ? ( remember to uninstall the old GFX drivers before removing the card if you want to be on the safe side )

your gfx card is just overheating, either replace the heatsink and fan on it, or just get a new one.

wont be a problem with ram etc

I'm getting a similar problem on my PC. Run XP Pro and have a Geo 5200 128MB gfx card. Usually with DAoC, but in most programs screen will just freeze and I have to reboot. I've diagnosed this down to the gfx card overheating (only started with the recent spate of hot weather), so now trying to convince the wife I need to get a new base unit! (well, good opportunity to upgrade my whole system to a Core 2 or higher!)

People who've said it's not a RAM issue didn't read properly. You're nuking your machine. (Physical memory dumps are when you use > 100% of your RAM)

I've been getting it when playing games will full graphics, it's a mix of your graphic capabilities and RAM support. (1/2 mentioned above)

Fixes:

- Update gfx drivers (latest)
- Turn down your graphics, turn off catamodels etc.
- Upgrade RAM (Or keep graphics low)
- New heat-sync for your fan. They're pretty easy to add on, as you usually get a install guide to it.

Check the heat sink on the graphics card is *tight*.

I had a similar problem with my 6800 and it turned out that right out of the box the heat sink was not as tight as it could be. I tightened it up and the problems stopped immediately. I was showing similar symptoms.

I'd also gone through a lot of the checks you've tried.

Hope this helps.

hmm ... well this is odd.
I have this problem also and know of 2 other people that have it too. I put it down to video card overheating as well, although it has run fine for nearly 2 years. This has only started happening over the last 2 weeks.

So the question on my mind is, could there be any other reason for it or is it just a coincidence that we all have the same issue?

Had the same crap on my pc and in the end after changing gfx, ram, soundcard, and fans, discovered it was my motherboard.

Components expand as they are heated (ie when they are switched on) and contract as they cool (when everything is shut down).

Over time they can become loose, even if its only by the tiniest amount. This can lead to memory or adapter cards needing to be reseated that have been in place a very long time.

If the heat sink (note I do not say fan) on a graphics card is not very firmly pressed against the processor(s) on the card, it will not do its job at all properly.

I've seen this happen before on PCs where they haven't even been modified since original purchase.

I'm not saying its what is happening here but its a situation I've seen crop up from time to time.
