Counterstrike "Rates" (not CS:S)

I was on a server the other and and somebody told me to "sort my rates out or i would get kicked", i know nothing about "rates" but apparently its sort of packet loss/data loss tghing, wtf ios it allabot

i have a 1 meg adsl connection

from memory, probably wrong but meh.....


edit// in case you dont know, you will need to bring down the console in the game, tilde key by default, and type the above commands into the cosole line.

cmd / update 70 is ok too, I should get similar to your fps , or a divisor, if I were you.
