Steam Friends = Annoying Shit

Grrr, so i have a few people or so who are on my friends list, that when they come on i get a notification that they are now online.

It has now become apparent, no no, it has now become annoying, because everytime i get this "Notification" i go into the Friends List, go into the Friends properties and UNtick the notification (Meaning no more notification!)

If my PC resets on its own (Like it does now and then) or if i shut down Steam and reload it, it doesnt remember what i told it to do. I thought it was just with the friends list, but its not.

I have "refreshed" Friends details so it shows what their updated info is, and in some cases DELETED them, but, upon reloading Friends, they come back, meaning i can NEVER get rid of them.

Seriously annoying now, anyone else get this type of problem?

I have exactly the opposite thing, mine never ever comes on at all, so i never get notified .
