Possible merging of Glastonbury and Salisbury

Changing a server's language was not technically possible before but solutions have recently been created. This has led us to consider merging the two classic servers since Glastonbury's success is not what it used to be after it's release more than a year ago ; certain players who were quite fond of this kind of servers have already left for Salisbury even though it is a German server. We are therefore thinking about switching Glastonbury's language from English to German to then cluster it with Salisbury so that those of you who have characters on Glastonbury may carry on playing them in areas populated by enemies and allies from both servers. A lot of Glastonbury players have been asking for this. The classic servers would become international servers, with a multi language customer support but with German texts being displayed. Of course we will inform you of the merging date, should it be confirmed.

Let us remind you of the advantages and changes a cluster can bring :
Certain areas, especially the frontiers and battlegrounds, are accessible to all servers inside a cluster and make it possible for more players to meet and fight.
The housing areas remain distinct. The trading opportunities are therefore increased.
Players looking for a guild are also given a larger choice. The same goes for guilds looking for an alliance since the game now allows for inter server alliances.
Furthermore, the Labyrinth of the Minotaur expansion will not allow more than ten character slots per server, which means a server cluster will enable players to create and play the new Mauler character class by switching servers inside the cluster.

if they do, they might aswell just stick a link saying "speak english? mythic's servers are thataway" on the homepage, and be done with it...

I dont understand German language, so for me it is no option to reactivate my GOA account and continue playing my Shadowblade on classic, even better to start from scratch on US classic, atleast i understand the language what is a big plus in a computer RPG game.

OR, it's because there's 30 people and declining on Glastobury and 1k+ on Salisbury. What they gonna do? Change the German server to English for the minority? This has nothing to do with the other servers, just classic, and it's a good move.

Wait till you see the details. Most of the text will be in English just certain messages would be in German and I'm sure you could manage.

I for one hope it goes ahead because I'll re-open my account and rejoin classic.

If it goes ahead I actually see a future for EU-daoc, for the players that spent so many hours on the english servers.

Pryd/Excal is heading down the same road as Glastonbury, and when they reach the same critical point (which I´m quite sure they will, cause I´m equally sure that GOA wont do anything about the situation) I hope this action will be taken with the english cluster aswell, and my chars (and others) can still be used on an active fun cluster. Even though probably german. =)

The friday news was good news. At least somewhere down the road.

I think there are better moves they could make - at least when it comes to Glast - but like the "About Glastonbury" thread has shown those just aren't options. A lot of people were in favour of charcopying to Salis so this is a nice little workaround.

Desperate times, desperate measures. Hopefully we'll reform - I know Red Shadows are still going ok on Alb albeit diminished, so if anyone wanted to rejoin a guild there's at least one good option. We have a mansion too \o/

I dont care if its in german. its mostly a problem when you lvl up but I will mainly go RvR and red looks red, even in german.

Not really, there would have to be more nightowls on the german hib and mid realms atm to counter balance the abundance of lemons we have in alb atm.

its not a bad move but i cant help but feel its shutting the stable doors after the horse has bolted.

Many people have shut their EU acc's and are happy playing in the US on various servers. Too little too late.

I love my alt on glast but will i reopen my acc if / when they are clustered? No, because of language barriers.

Well, nm if people dosent reopen there acc then. we that wants/does play classic will have better RvR and the germans will have a handfull of new faces and more PvE farming land if they wants

We prolly have better prices on the CM's too.. ans I gues most things are on sale

I certainly intend to play glast again if this goes thru. In fact due to this note appearing in the news, about 6 of our guild logged into glast over friday evening, and our druid made a suprise appearence after a 2 month afk.

People felt quite hopeful and excited about the prospect of putting our hib grp back together.
