About glastonbury

ok i dont play glaston, never have, never will.. but i can see that the server is.. going.. DOWN.. (no this isnt a dhoom post). but still.. why not make it a fun lil event for the community.. my idea is basicly this. Goa making a post here and on their website saying "ok guys.. next week on friday (or sumn), you guys get the chance to fight against us in a battle for the server." what i basicly think about is this.. Get as many players on there on this day, and then they have to gather up outside the maingates of their respective capital city.. Mobs start popping and trying to make their way towards the "gates". if the mobs get to the gate they will start attacking the doors and trying to kill the doors (aka tower/keeptake thing). the mobs then start to grow in size / level /number.. and the players need to keep their city safe for a set amount of time. if the door goes down, mobs storm the city and kill everything . if 2 of the 3 citys "survive" the attack.. the server gets to live for a lil while longer.. could be fun, could even get a few playres to reopen if they get the chance to battle against something like this..

GOA can't even do /charcopy, /level 50, or set the XP and freelevel bonus to max for all the realms on that server. I think something like this is beyond their abilities.

I think a huge amount of people would - at least part time, so as to restore the server to a workable population.

We did ask GOA about numerous fixes before the majority of us left, they just fobbed us off with the usual responses, saying it was impossible - even though we've seen Mythic do similar things to what we asked so we know it can be done. We even saw GOA do /level 30 on Hibernia so we know it's possible to code abnormal /level options.

hats off for trying to inject some life back into our classic server.
still have a 50 SM on there which i truely loved to play solo. If population did come back i would definatly play there again.

edit: however as the usual pop is roughly 30-60 now, a majority of us moved to US classic

Yeah I'm thinking about getting an account there. I'm playing City of Heroes atm (nothing like the PvP in DAoC but its fun for the moment).

Seeing how it goes. Personally thinking about dabbling on CoH, maybe US Classic, then Conan - cos you can chop people's heads off in that game =)

We aren't able to implement any of the things you asked for in your email. When the /level command was introduced it was possible to set it to either /level 20 or /level 30 depending on underpopulation bonuses. That option was removed some time ago and it is not possible to make /level take a character beyond level 20. In addition we have no interest in making a level 50 duel server which is what any server with instant level 50 on it would become. The game as provided by Mythic requires a character to progress normally through PvE or RvR combat to level 50. We are not in any way able to change that core game dynamic.

Other options discussed are not feasible for various technical and game balance reasons. /Charcopy cannot be used to transfer characters to a live server and due to the special ruleset, it isn't desirable to have characters with ToA abilities able to be imported in any case. The underpopulation bonuses are being discussed but we have not seen any evidence that indicates they will redress the general issue of low population over an entire server. If people want to reroll on Glastonbury then they will, the lure of a 2 day free level period is unlikely to influence them greatly in that decision. As I said though it is being discussed however, so it is possible that Glastonbury and other low-population servers may benefit from global underpopulation bonuses.

We are keeping a close eye on the situation on Glastonbury and will do whatever is possible to keep it as a viable server.

I think the underpopulated bonusses don't help much anyway.
"Oh that realm gets 2% more camp bonus let's level to 50 there!"...
Sure the one free level per 2 days helps but if you really want people to roll a new character, ToA it up (artifacts, MLs, drops) then they should atleast give massive exp bonusses not something like 5% more camp bonus..

Like some freeshards have 15x the exp you normally would get that would make people roll there, would get you faster to 50 but you still have to do MLs, artifact encounters and get various drops so it would still take a while to be done but atleast you don't have to spend an eternity to get your character(s) "ready".
If you want people to roll on another server and leave the server where they already got quite some characters that are fully templated/ToA'ed there has to be a compensation and a minor camp bonus ain't going to do it.

If you did made everything as easy lvled as you can: global underpopulation bonuses ect, Im sure it would make some people to come back and many, as they logs in, check for the numbers on Glaston, se the low pop. numbers and logs into another server.. If they saw a higher number loged onto Glaston, maybe they would aswell and then we are talking about a psyclogical reversed avalance.

You say you cant do the /lvl 30 and I beleave you, but that is true when it comes to about any changes on the EU servers. What you need is to be the players in europe's voice to Mythic, speak for us and sway them to give you the directives to do the changes that this comunety needs. We are your customers and we have a general interest to stay that way, so its in everyones interest that this lobbying to Mythic takes place.

There is possabel to do seprate game situations, we all knows that.. Just see Camlann and the US PvE servers, they have some changes that is exclusive for them in order for them to work. The/lvl 30 has been done b4, so it can be implimented again, on the testing of NF, there where a /lvl 50 so that can be done to if wanted. Yeah I know what you wrote about that but if you give that for a limmited time, people will start play again, later on, after a set time period, you can withdraw it, and you will have alot of fresh lvl 50's in all realms.

There is another possability too... 1 free month for a new started acc, in order to get some fresh blood to the game. Maybe some old players will come back, some that lost there acc info and maybe takes with them a friend or 2 from other games just for the fun to lvl togeather.

Thats a shame, from a technical point of view I cant really see why you cant. I guess its just that your unwilling to change or mythic wouldnt like you to change it, rather than cant? To me it seems as simple as asking mythic to clone the code for /level20 and just replace the amount of exp required to obtain lvl 20 to say lvl 30 or lvl 50s worth. Sounds like 10 mins work for a junior script monkey.
