Phone database bollocks

i doubt very much that the say o2 would sell the numbers/ names and addresses of all their customer base, to a third party who could then sell them to say Vodaphone

the has not come from the networks, it doesnt make sense


Under the Data Protection law you can write to 118800 and demand that they divulge all of the information they hold on you - and the source of the information.

Write to them and ask, "Who sold my details to you?" -- And then go back to the business who sold-you-out and update your preferences with them to ensure it doesn't happen again...

Oh yes and once you find out who sold-you-out, you might consider taking your custom somewhere else! Do you really want to do business with someone who sells your personal contact details - especially your mobile phone number - to an unknown 3rd party

This is one of the reasons i love prepaid.

No contract, no name, nothing.

My number and all who have it i've chosen, including the provider concerning privacy.

Though it's only good if you don't need mobilesurfing thingies.

I am guessing they will still have the numbers of people on prepaid. they are selling the numbers from the phons they sell onto this new company.

Sure the numbers are there, but since the(atleast in finland) numbers are sold in secret(each box with different one), i don't know if that would hinder it.

Wouldn't be cost effective to call numbers that are still on the shelf.

And if you don't know who, where or in what age group you're calling, it becomes een more hassle. Just guessing here.

I stayed with prepaid for a long, long time and loved it. I'd get periodic calls from my provider trying to get me to give a name, an address, anything! Fuck no. I liked my anonymous phone.

Don't own one these days - the work one is just too convenient and has near-limitless free messaging and calls so just cancelled my contract. If they want to call me on the work one they'll be in for a fun time - i've set it to bar witheld numbers automatically to avoid the usual call centre sales muppets contacting me.

Pretty easy to put a NDA and agreement not to sell on further into the contract for the purchase?

cant see how they can verify the validity of their number database without the mobile companies i could sign up to anything and just put made up numbers in the mobile field so some guy the other end of the country could be getting calls for me
