Rubbish. Why would the Daleks even need a console ? In a jail ?

Here's my attempt at the ending.

Doctor: "My god the largest Dalek empire ever recorded. I calculate the entire universe will be wiped out within a month as there isn't a single race capable of inflicting meaningful casualtes on... oh, I just remembered Daleks are allergic to cheese."

Donna: "Bleedin' 'eck I've GOT DAIRLEE DUNKERS 'ERE !!!1"

Davros: "Oh no... the cheese infection is spreading (geddit)"

Dalek: "Does not compute... Does not Roquefort..." *comedy explosion*

Doctor: "Well that's that wrapped up surprisingly quickly; now we've got a good twenty minutes for the emotional ending stuff."

Yeah, Doctor Donna was a tad cringey. It wasn't as bad as the last end of season finale, which I absolutely loathed, but when she started babbling techno talk you did just slump in your seat and shake your head. They should have had the courage to kill her off, blood pouring from the nose style, but I'm guessing the reason they won't is

firstly it wasnt a jail it was the control room of the crucible hence davros been there if you notice when they started to fire the weapon it was from that room they just kept the doctor there to make him see the end.

it wasnt the best finale ive seen that was probably reserved for rose leaving end of season 2 that was a heartbreaker

im just saying if you watch it and take note of whats going on its not a tangled mess of non sensical nonsense everything that happens is explained or readily seen

personally i think donna should have died after they've bigged her up all series it was a pretty crap ending for her she should have gone out in a blaze of glory dragging davros into the core or some shit.

i think they wanted some closure with rose spawning a 2nd doctor wasnt really my cup of tea it worked but only just least shes happy and im glad cos she has been my fav companion by far


the ending could have been better i admit the build up far outdid the ending but it could have been much worse now bring on the christmas special rumour has it there will be 2 new assistants from different time periods which fall in love could make for an interesting plot device a couple aboard the tardis

have to remember the time lords were the equal of the daleks if not better not killing a companion was a bit of a cop out but we did lose 2 companions we lost rose we probably wont hear from her again and donna is gone for good

Pay attention chipper. It was not the control room of the crucible. It was referred to as the "vault" and it was a prison for davros and dalek kahn(sp).

After the first episode last week, I really expected much more from the finale.

Bottom line is this episode was good, not great. Problem is that the build up episode was great.

Sticking Rose back in the bum universe was a cop out especially given they didn't actually make him say the words "I love you".

Not killing Donna was another cop out. After what was said (and as Wij pointed out) they should have gone through with it or Dalek Caan should have said "you will suffer a great loss" instead. The end would have been more emotional as well if he'd dumped her back on Earth remembering everything and basically saying "no, no. back you go, go type 100 words per minute" much as he did to SjS.

Leaving the door open for more Torchwood is (imho) going to be a horrific error.

Only good thing was the usual not showing Davros actually buy the farm as no more Daleks would be proper naff.

It wasn't quite what expected. While good enough, it was as often Doctor Who solutions are; "I'll just take this and switch it like this and voila, negative to positive and send the waves BACK."

Your basic "defelctor shield" solution to all problems sci-fi if you will.

But, saying that, i still find the ending, after the whole emotional towtrucking across the universe that is, a good series ender. They closed the books on everything and left the Doctor as he was in the beginning, alone.

Though the ending was a bit too emotionally acted for a guy who's fought the timewars etc etc, but...it'll pass

Fresh start and all that, which i think the story needs. Shame it takes a while for the next one to arrive, 2010 i believe?
