PS3 sucks! (at demos)

So I tried a PS3 yesterday and I can definitly say the 360 is better.

I wanted to try some demos so I queued 5 up just like I do on the 360. Is it possible to turn the PS3 off while they download?

With the 360 I can queue 5 demos and then change the order in which they will download, is this possible on PS3?

Once all 5 demos have downloaded I CAN PLAY THEM STRAIGHT AWAY.

I was hoping to do the same on the PS3 but I only managed to try 2 due to the insane install times!

I cant believe that even before the installer there is a seperate installer to load the installer...?! (I guess its just unzipping the file but my 2yr old PC doesnt take anywhere near as long).

And why cant this all be done in the background so I can watch a bluray film or play other demos or DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN SIT AND WATCH AN INSTALLER SCREEN!! (for literally 20-30 mins for a 1gb demo).

It was such a joke I couldnt believe it. The PS3 fanboys never mention this!

To show I'm not a 360 fanboy but just prefer it, I do like streaming photos its a lot quicker than the 360. Also I like how quiet the PS3 is.

I really dont like the PS3 controller, it doesnt look as nice (the 4 leds looks lame compared to the X on the 360) and also the pad hurts my hand being a rectangle.

The online side of the ps3 is really poor, they are improving it (but slowly), the store is much better now for example. You have to remember that xbox live was around with the first xbrick so MS have had a lot of time to perfect it.

Not sure actually but I do now that they download in the background now whilst watching stuff or doing other things.

Where do you get insane install times from? A 600mb demo takes a minute or less to unzip and install. I guess Sony could not zip them but then you increase the download times. You can't have it both ways. Personally I like the fact that they are small to download.

No idea what you are on about. Once downloaded you click the demo and it installs the game in one go.

You have to remember the PS3/360 are not PC's. They are consoles.

The non DS controller is crap compared to the DS version (slightly heavier). I prefer the PS3 but love the 360 controllers.

I mean when you click install it does something for a few minutes. On that screen you can cancel. Then it goes to the progress bar screen. I tried installing 2 demos and both took well over 20 minutes

It was ratchet and clank and that god of war type game, the bird with the sword.

Gotrag (old forum user and IRL mate) has a 360 and I've got a PS3, every few weeks we play both consoles on the same TV (HDMI) swap. God, I can't tell you how weird it is to go back to a PS3 controller =< Even though the 360 ones are too chunky in some locations (mainly around the buttons) it fits better.

Went from playing Halo on the 360 to CoD and I sucked like mad for about 20 min, since I had to re-adapt to the controller size -_-

Are the DS controllers any good? I might trade both my non-DS ones (got 2 free with my bundle thing) for 1 DS, and then buy another DS with what ever I've got left.


I can't comment on the demos, I've got 7gb band a month and I can just about get away with net/online gaming properly, so demos are a no-go for me

ds are worth it, had mine since they got released in japan. not as heavy as it should be. play gta4 and uncharted without ds then with and youl notice it.

and just be glad you didnt experiance the old psn store it was fuckign horrible.

also you will come to notice the downloadable game son psn usa/japan take months to reach us. unlike on xbla where its worldwide.

and your 360 will die on you at some point wheres the ps3 is rock solid.

This is was one of my pet hates about the PS3.

It is the same with full games you have to sit through an install everytime time you buy a new one it gets really annoying after a while.

If you go into Download Manager you can change the order as well as suspending downloads ect.
