permalinks and posts per page

there's a nice little "permalink" link on the right hand side of every post in a thread - next to the view individual post one. (which on my freddys green skin is #1 (permalink) in the top right corner of each post)

The #1 one works fine - the permalink one doesn't always.

It only works if whoever you give the link to has the same number of posts per page, if like me you set it to the max and send that link to someone with the default they'll end up on a different page with no anchor found.

like it's meant to if you have the same number of posts per page as me.

Can that (permalink) link be changed to the same as the #118 link? (i.e. to a "view individual post" rather than an anchor). It means you lose the link to the middle of the thread but it stops there being any page problems.

The best way to link to a post is with the POST tag, like this! So, when I link to svartalfs post, it should link to the correct one, right?

The permalink URL needs formatting like the POST tag, it automatically does a HTTP redirect to the relevant page.
