Hybrid Classes ?
Ok thx for the info below on servers to start on guys. Just having trouble deciding for a class to play atm . (Should have really read up on EQ2 more be4 it released
) In DAoC i liked to play mostly hybrid chars eg Warden,Friar,Skald, Smite spec cleric .What archtype/endgame classes in EQ2 have those sort of utilities ?I like the sort of Jack of all Trades feel to a class tbh. Never been the sort to play a out and out damage dealer be it a hard nuking mage or high damage dealing tank.Any info would be of gr8 help to help me start as i about install EQ2 now(just picked it up)

If you find out what the best class is - let me know
I STILL havn't made my mind up - or what server to play on.After the initial "woh graphics!" I went into "nice start" to "hmm too many quests!" to "combats a bit simple? Gifv daoc back!" and am now settled on "oh actually, dig a little under the covers and its really nice!". Just worked out the crafting system, discovered that making your own weapons REALLY improves your damage output . Now all I need to do is work out how to make big bags.Still a bit uncertain on my server/class combination - I'm worrying that my little scout (soon to be bard) won't be all that in demand in freeport. As Tears says - healer healer healer are in demand (until you are one, then its tank tank tank - where's the tanks!). I'm half holding out for a proper euro (Amsterdam based) English speaking server, at which point I'll think I'll jump ship of Antonia Bayle. I've got no idea if SoE will actually bow to pressure and create one though.

D'oh I forgot to actually say what I wanted to in response to your question. Compared to DAOC, all classes are fairly hybrid from what I've seen. Priests have (decent) smite spells, scouts get to be a little bit of jack-of-all-trades with minor magic abilities (speed haste). Mages seems to be pretty powerful right now - and tanks seem to stand a pumelling from the mobs really well before they drop.

to start with most of the characters are fairly hybridy-ish (i suppose you could say), but when you get to your last chosen sub class (at lvl 20), you abilities start to become more specific to your role in the group.
If your after a jack of all trades though, id probly recommend something like a bard. These have HUGE DPS and are very good back up DMG'ers and support chars for buffs, power song etc. I made a bard in BETA, and loved it. Ive currently got a 16 crusader in freeport but gona re-incarnate my bard soon.
