noob question about spells

What i remember from eq1 ages ago like 5-6 years (only played it for 3 months), is that you need to buy new spells.

But now i see you get spells if you level or im wrong and you only get basic spells and need to buy higher ones?

Or if someone has a site with what spells you get and others you need to buy plz give me the link

Yes you get you spells as you level but you need to see a Scribe to buy scrolls to upgrade them

but strange i saw book to upgrade the spell to summon food and drink but it didnt work.

Did you scribe the book ?
Do you have the right level of skill for the upgrade ?

Maybe you could check, and if not keep the book till you do
