Well, I searched around on Google a bit and this is what I found:

Hi all ! I have solution for Directx 9.0c trouble !

1st - uninstall ur current directx 9.0x by unsing Directx Eradicator.

2nd - close all antivirus programes.

3rd - make sure that u have directx 9.0 and directx 9.0c setup files.
replace 2 files : "dsetup32.dll" & "DSETUP.dll" of directx 9.0c setup files by two samename files of directx 9.0 (overwrite them)

4th - Run setup directx 9.0c

now , i can play "The SIms 2" by that way .

good luck !

Hope this helps.

Hmmm...

Strange, what equipment are you using? Especially the graphics card, and the version of its drivers.

Aha.
I had problems with the Geforce FX 5200 too. Apparently, according to SOE, it's best not to take the most recent drivers, but the previous ones (66.93)
You can find them here:
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/...0forceware.htm

Of course, before installing those drivers, you'd best uninstall Direct X, and only reinstall Direct X after you've installed these drivers.

I hope this works out, cos I'm running out of ideas...

Yep, if he reverts to direct X 8 everything's fine.
Keep me informed on the matter :-)
