Crookshanks will become famous soon enough
I'm torn between a priest or a rogue (Halfling of course!). I really can't make my mind up - not being in the beta I have no idea really how they play - every seems to have a different opinion in the forums!

At least I don't have to make my mind up on subclass for a while though. I'm coming from a DAOC background - where rogue classes really arn't wanted in pve (which of course is all EQ2 is) so I'm having a mental problem imagining that a rogue will be useful - whereas I've seen several people say healers are needed as you need 2 per group. The last think I want is a class I have trouble getting a group with - and I only want to have one char this time. Playing so many alts in daoc has meant I havn't really got a main - no one to focus my attention on and consequently I ended up with a whole load of level 50's none of which were high RR or high ML level. I'm going to learn from my mistakes and have one char from the off

Same here mate i wanna go Assassin or Ranger but like you i come from DAOC and it was pure hell trying to get a group as a Nightshade when that game was first released...

Although Bard comes under a Rogue im tempted to be one of them seeing as they will be wanted in groups for their songs etc..

Shadowknight has me most interested though..

Damn i cant wait for release now ya know the stupid think ? i had my sarah michelle gellar calender on the wall on october still and i though the 12th was next tuesday... then i flipped over and its not till next friday NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I currently have a lowbie sorc and they are fun to play, you need to look at the lines of progression to see what to become after that, I was going for a wizard as opposed to the summoner. Love the gfx they get

Also I dont think that grouping will be as much of an issue as DAOC, they all brings things to groups...

Bottom line is that I will run EQ2 for a while and see how it gets on, I wont miss getting steam rollered in daoc, but I dont know if the PVE only aspect will get me hooked.

I do like the idea of a preditor or assasin, but i will probly just go for a dwarf fighter and bash things plus it fits the idea of been an armourcrafter well too smaking a forge all day.

Don't be swayed by Daoc's handling of rogues in PvE, it was a nitemare getting groups. I played EQ1 before Daoc and from what I've seen about rogues in EQ2 they will be really good to have in groups. They dealt really good damage when attacking from behind in EQ1, and they were one of the best classes to have to pull mobs for your group, as they could feign death if they pulled too many.
One of the main things about the rogue is his ability to change the outcome of the Heroic action wheel thing (hehe forgot what its called) as they get to flip a coin in their action bar. Something along those lines anyway.

As for me its Dwarven Paladin all the way

Drowe Coercer for me! Not the most popular class so far but I think it looks a lot of fun and the spells are a pretty good mix - Charmfortehwin!

Scout classes are very grp friendly in EQ2,

we generally play predator, rogue, bard, tank, cleric, mage in our grp.

They deal your dmg, they swap your heroics around to what you want, they find the mobs for you, they regen your power, they provide your speed, and they have range.

plus group stealth is uber

bah grumble, moan, whine, whinge...

I still can't make my mind up. While I agree - Scouts do cool things - I'm still not sure they are essential to a group as compared to say a priest of fighter. Consquently a priest/fighter might be more desirable (as, like other have acknowledged all the classes seem fairly well balanced in terms of numbers).

... on the other hand an "additional" scout would always be of benefit to a group, whereas an additional priest might not if the group is already well stocked with healers.

oh I just can't make my mind up
