its harsher a lot harser than DaoC. It is also unstructured and so you have to choose your career path and then get the skills for it. I played it for a long time as a break from DaoC and now I probably play more on eve than DaoC.
The PvP is definitely tougher because when you die you have to replace your ship and that costs time and ISK. So only do PvP in a ship that you can replace. That said the adrenalin you have when you are in PvP beats DaoC hands down. The thought that you could lose something you lub (your tech II stealth freighter) is much more exciting than dying rinsing and repeating endlessly. The proiblem is that its strength is its big weakness at times as well. For example when a bloody pirate ganks you and pods you and then laughs at you it can be frustrating. Oh and the lag at the moment is not good. Last patch fucked the server and I could not play for around 2weeks. Even now it can be unplayable in busy places. I am miles away from busy nodes though. Go to their website and spend some time reading the forums there are an awgful lot of new people in the game just now. Do not think it will be a replacement for DaoC because its different very different. It has depth but that takes a very long time to discover. So the answer is yes but it depends on what you are after. |

In my opinion this game is unique in the mmo genre. It is not traditional and doesn't tie to a franchise aka Starwars or Startrek.
Imho its well worth a bit of time. Have EVE radio on in the back ground too http://www.eve-radio.com/index.php

EvE is the best mmorpg I have ever played, hands down.
It is not for the gamer who wants instant gratification and it is not for the player who wants to grind his way to the top playing 24/7. EvE is simply a game that you can log-on and enjoy. No grinding and PvP is a real challenge, lose your ship and you are in for a world of financial hurt. As you have something very valuable to lose, it just upps the adrenalin level in huge pvp combats and small pirate skirmishes alike. There is a new add-on on it's way and it looks to be impressive.

Eve would only be the right game for you tadius if you got patience =P
skills takes IRL time to train. that means when you get high you maybe need to wait 30days+ Irl to train the very high skills. but even when your training takes lots of time ( train the learning skills to reduce timer), you can still enjoy the time with your corp and other ppl. Perfect game for daoc Tired ppl =P GL
