A New Dawn.

(Thought I’d put my on the spot writing to the test, if you spot any errors please do tell so I can edit them, also any suggests on changes are appreciated, Cheers Mey. Enjoy.)

An offshore wind blew from the lands of Midgard, hailing a new dawn of destruction for the lands that were once a place of peace. An old and frail Lurikeen twitched impatiently, stood waiting in a small grove, his heartbeat pounding as if it had just been brought back to life, he looked down, checking himself. ‘Im not lifeless.’ He though, ‘what is it that is causing me to feel this way.’

He anxiously rifled through his bags, he had seen many a great battle since the division of a once united people. The fall of the Pendragon had hit the world hard; non-could have dreamed what would happen, least of all this now old Lurikeen. He had seen many of a friend and foe departed from this once green and peaceful land, and he could feel his time was nearing too.

A cold gush of wind hit his face, blowing his hair to one side, revealing a marked face. He bore the mark of shame, the mark of a traitor. With this mark he had been shunned by the people he had once called friends, even family.

His hand traced the brand, up and down, to the left and right. He froze, his eyes glared into nothingness, and he began to remember.

"They want me to leave tomorrow, I am to be sent to the frontiers, I will not fight against people who are my friends!” asserted the young Lurikeen.

“Son, I know it’s hard, but we are at war now, they have taught you, and know they expect of you to give back what you have learnt in the defence of the realm.” Replied his mother.

“I will not fight. I will turn my back on this place to be with her, I love her!”

His mothers shook her head, and sighed. It was unheard of for a Lurikeen to have such a fascination with a kobold it was not natural.

As a tear formed his eyes glazed over once more.

“To arms!” yelled the keep lord, “The Viking war bands approach” the sound of unified marching could be heard in the distance, war drums pounding. A Horn blew and the marching stopped.

A poorly dressed man stepped forward he was covered in scars from head to toe, his long untamed hair covered his face. A shaman dressed in dirty robes stepped out from amongst a large crowd of heavily armoured warriors, he lifted a dagger high in the air, and with one fixed movement he plunged it deep into the back of the poorly dressed man, he did not flinch or show mercy, this was meant to be.

As the blood ran down the back of the mans body, he fell to his knees and with his last breath, screamed forth to the Gods of Old.

“Valhalla the gods await me
Open wide thy gates embrace me.
Great hall of the battle slain..”

A loud clap of thunder filled the air, and the sky darkened. The warriors nodded they knew that this was a sign that Thor was with them. The drums began to pound again, and the horn blew once more. The Army was ready!

The Battle was fierce and lasted throughout the night; many men and women were wounded, the ground was socked red with the blood of the fallen. The druids did their best to keep their men alive, but the wounds were critical and their power limited.

In the darkness of the second night, she was stood there, all alone, staff in hand staring into nothing. A nightshade seized his chance, and attacked with brutal fury. She died within the first strike of his blades.

Her artery perforated she lay lifelessly on the floor. The Lurikeen angered by her death, leaped over the defences, knocking a weary ranger to the floor. He began to cast an enchantment upon the killer; the killer stunned, unable to move, was left open to the battery of spells, which quickly followed. The tormented body of the now lifeless nightshade fell to the ground.

“Seize that Lurikeen now!” shouted the captain “throw him into the pit, we will deal with him later.”

The trees crunched, and twisted hard in the strong wind, the grass wrapped and unwrapped around his legs, as he stood their motionless.

The old Lurikeen formed an image of the one he loved, he could see her, he pictured them whilst they were still together, holding each other in the sunset. Suddenly he was struck from behind, he feel to his knees, and cried.. “Soon, we will be together my love..”

Hehe cheers, not meaning to sound big headed or anything, but it really is easier than you think.

I wrote this in about 30 minutes, and thinking back on it wish i could of added more detail, - mark of shame / more plot and so on.

I'm glad you enjoyed reading it (i think) it makes it worthwhile in the end.

yeah it was good, See with me i can write things like that but it takes me a whiel to start, once i have started there is no stopping me.... although FH bandwith might try

d00m Go back to learning what logic gates do and coverting hex to BCD :P
