Ok, so a discipline priest ain't the perfect choice perhaps, but i like to specialize. I'm also gonna take on dagger instead of staves.

I'm not sure what this spec achieves (but then Im no expert on talents!) As I see it it neither enhances your killing ability nor your healing ability. All it might do is extend your life for a few more seconds - am I wrong?

If you really want to specialise Holy or Shadow are more obvious choices.

Granted, I can't tell you how you will fare because full disc is a path that virtually no priest takes, but maybe that might have a reason ...

I'd consider adding improved renew if you can. The improved version gives you more bang for each point of mana whilst spreading hate out over the duration of the spell.

I'm also going to get improved PWS since its been shown that the effect on warrior rage generation is negligible.

Think I'll go something like this.


Shadow Mastery
Spirit Tap

Gives you a 100% chance to gain a 100% bonus to your Spirit after killing a target that yields experience. For the duration, your Mana may regenerate at a 50% rate while casting. Lasts 15 sec.

I agree with Ben, your don't really seem to achieve anything using this spec, apart from reasonably fast mana regeneration, which is ok for high end instances, but not useful in PvP in its current form.

I'd personally ditch Silent Resolve and Meditation, and grab Mindflay, and the 2 holy talents that improve your renew and and overall healing (improved renew and spiritual healing?).

Silent resolve reduces threat from dmg spells... that's just a waste of talents. You're not going to be doing damage in groups anyway. Grab subtelty in the Holy tree for threat reduction for healing spells.
Meditation? 15% of 7000 mana @ 60? 105 mana regenned during the 5 second rule. That's not even enough for half a flash heal. And that's assuming you have top gear. You'd be better better off grabbing improved renew and getting better heal / mana ratio, than trying to grab a tiny amount of mana after each cast.

Otherwise, a spec like this could work, but you'd need a set of Devout Gear at 60 for the spirit to be effective. Or wait til they fix spirit for priests.

I dont think this guy has played a character past level 10... full discipline.. heh...

dmg output comes from shadow line, healing power comes from holy line.. discipline? err Woot i get to buff myuself with a +30something spirit at the end talent (Divine Spirit).


Some of the discipline talents are v.nice but to spend 44 points is a bit overkill for a bunch of stuff that dont help you as much as spending points in another area.

I haven't played. Period.

I just want to get my options clear before i get to the hack'n'slash. That's why i asked peeps here, knowing that the only place to get your skilltree bashed in an orderly fashion is...freddies

Thanks for the heads-up people and i'll just get back to ye old drawing board, or go with my original evil-full-shadow-till-50-then-holy line.

EDIT: Main thing is, especially to people who know my infamous Jeff from DAoC ( ), i don't intend on doing a healer loveydovey priest.

As Jeff would say:

You can respec as much as you want, the price of respec goes up and up though (costs money). Caps out at 50g. When you play priest for a while you will realize what talents are good to have and what are a waste of points when you could get more bang for your buck. My advice is to not even look at talents until you have played a bit. I was level 30 on US servers before i spent any talent points because I didnt know what different spells did and what would be most useful to have. There is no one forcing you to spend talent points each level as you level. You can build them up then spend when you know more about your class and what the different spells do and which would be handy to have improved

Don't be mistaken, Disc has several ace must-have talents ! But they're mostly early in the tree.

You can still easely go deep into holy or shadow and still pick most of the usefull disc talents, which is what priests usually do.

discipline is useless to spec in, it wont help u in anyway... i am slightly split spec.. mostly in shadow but enough in holy to make my heals better for grouping... i can solo faster than most other classes and take next to no dmg. At lvl 54 i was able to take 2 lvl 55 dinos in ungoro at the same time and barely get to 80% hps.. and no i didnt heal i only used shield and nukes as i was in shadow mode.

holy is great if you dont wana solo, but unless u make groups for yourself alot u will do alot of soloing. if u wanna be able to heal in groups and still hit hard as hell with a nuke i would suggest shadow.. mind flay is great in groups as it slows a mobs movement speed by 50% so runners cant really run and baff..

even being all shadow your heals are superb btw.

Improved powerword shield is the best talent in the game. No doubt about it. It will make you a god in PvP, and it means you will never die against a mob less than 5 levels above you, as long as you have mana. And 10% mana of insta cast spells - *how* can you go wrong, when 2/3'rds of all your spell are insta's when doing PvP or fighting elite instances? You can't



I always thought the irony of the discipline tree, is that both Holy and Shadow priests use it to heal more efficiently, and then they argue about whether Shadow or Holy is best for end game.

atm im going 10 in disc and rest shadow just to try it out.
cant remember exactley but the 15%more to resist fear and stun i think is fantastic. then using the other 5 for better shield and stamina buff.
i might spec more in later i dunno but majority of its going into shadow to improove dmg etc. i end up solo-ing alot. and without holy spec i still seem to heal fine in grps so far.

Yeh, Shadow is fine for all instances below 60 as long as you know what you're doing.

Only instance I've ever had trouble with so far is Zul Farak, but that's probably because we're too low, more than anything.
