research and time management

i started today. its written in my diary so ive got to do it. still a month to go untill uni though, and i read a plan that reckons you can do it in 14 weeks with 16 hours a week working on it!
how the fuck do i fit in 16 hours a week around
lectures
other coursework
extra curricular life
i was hoping to join the martial arts thing this year to but how am i supposed to fit it?
im currently going to do 1-2 hours a day reading up on literature, hopefully my dissertation will be ethically approved by then and i can get a meeting with my supervisor.
anyone got any tips? time management in general would be helpful since i know jack shit about it. ive got a diary as i said and i WILL do whats written in it. my time working a shit job has made me realise this year i need to pull some special magic out the bag and do well. i dont want to end up in somewhere like that again.

Tris - it is just discipline and you are good at that. Make a plan and stick to it.
I am doing a Masters and it is a pain in the arse. I hate the essay bit, but I just make myself do it. |

Shit or not, its good to write it down. There are a few good books out there on how to structure, reference and go about it. Any hoo... devise a plan and run it by your Tutor -thats what we pay them for. Best to know you are on the right track from the start, OR NOT - which is usually where I am at the mo x

good point. my supervisor is a pretty decent bloke actually and doesnt mind if i ask him a lot of questions, aslong as ive tried to find it my self first. but i suppose some things you just have to ask him!

i remembered a tip my mam gave me (since shes done 2 dissertations in 2 completely different things!). write an introduction she said, and something will click in and thats what youll wanna be looking at.
lo and behold it has, and now my moments of clarity is more like constant clarity. |
