Baby update

Just thought I'd post a brief update on Baby James' progress.

6 weeks.
Christ, that's gone quick. Working late shift is messing with my head something chronic.

James is doing mightily fine though, had his last major checkup today to make sure the early heart murmers were within limits and normal - all checks today show he's clearly absolutely fine and showing higher than normal cognitive skills, which is a tad odd but nothing to be concerned about.
Certainly grown anyway, from a tiddler at 5lbs 8 ounces to 9lbs as of today.
Comparison from 2nd day at home (3 days old) to today:

He's starting babbling now too, which is rather amusing in places, but more to our amusement he grins and properly smiles quite often now - and does it on queue if you look down on him whilst grinning/smiling.

He has bucketfuls of character, and it's astonishing how much of a bond I feel with him. It's a different sort of love (obviously not talking anything dirty!) than with your other half/fancy piece, it's weird, gets you like nothing else possibly can. The way he instinctively reaches to grab my finger or chest hair whenever I'm holding him says it all, then as he stares into my eyes thinking "Christ, what family have I been born into!"

Jobwise, still working those lates at a warehouse and it's absolutely exhausting me - not only that, but it's starting to get me down, not seeing much of James or Wendy other than in passing and it's something that needs to change.
Positive movements on two counts though:
1. Had an interview with the local Police HQ last Thursday, results of which I should get tomorrow. Was brief yet positive, I've been called twice by my representing agency this week to let me know I'm still "the best they've seen so far" but I do wonder how many people they say that to. Would love to get a foot in the door there though, the money is good and more importantly the job is good too.

2. Had a meeting with my ex colleagues on Saturday in the local pub, it turns out my ex boss (the good one!) has bought it out and it doing it up to relaunch at somepoint soon; as and when that happens he'd like to rehire as much of the original staff as possible.
Now, that would be offering significantly less money than the Police, however it's walking distance from the flat, convenient, a job I know well and I'd hope I'd be able to take over the entire engineering and IT management for the new company which would ultimately mean more job satisfaction too.

Difficult one. The Police aren't going to go bust, yet the latter is a risk I'd rather like to take. And it's so much closer to home should I be needed, or even just to pop home at lunchtime to see baby...

Your such a lucky man Kryt, he is gorgous, love the last pic, that kind of 'what do you mean your posting these on a blog' look

As for the job, well job satisfaction is the key at end of the day, but then so is security. How confident is your old boss at making things work, if you have a good core of original staff that want to make it happen, then it will

Good Luck
