Lucifer's Ark: Simon Clark

Posted 12th March 2008 at 04:16 PM by Ezteq
quite a disapointing offering from SC, generally i enjoy his books but this one didn't feel like it was written by him, it had a very richard laymon feel to it but none of the dark (and delightfully gross) humour of richard laymon.

If you've never read SC before then i can highly recommend King Blood and Blood Crazy which imo are two of his best though his other books are all very enjoyable, i would suggest that maybe you give this one a miss though, it doesnt do him justice, try...

Duma Key: Stephen King

Posted 12th March 2008 at 04:12 PM by Ezteq
all hail, the master is truely back on form, what a book!!

I have to say its pant wettingly good, he's really got back on track with his last 3 books (Cell, Liseys story and duma key), he did go a bit odd for a while (and not odd in the usual good sense) but man what a come back!

Basically the story is about a guy who has an accedent at work and loses an arm...then his wife leaves him and he's feeling a bit low (shall we say) so his psychiatrist suggests that...

Well,

another great book from JK, this is the series featuring his psychologist/detective Alex Delaware in the 21st book. Its got his pal Milo the gay police detctive and also has Petra Connor the hollywood homicide det. Really good story line and likable characters.

If you like crime thrillers you'll love this series.

Book of the dead: Patricia Cornwell

Posted 28th February 2008 at 02:29 PM by Ezteq
it must be at least the 15th book featuring Scarpetta and her crew and things have taken an upward turning from a few of PCs last books.

There is more humour to scarpetta now which is great as she was getting to be a bit of a miserable sod, but that seems to have passed. The story line lept about a bit too much for my liking and while PCs research and technical knowledge is fantastic she must realise that her readers weren't all trained pathologists so there were bits where i didnt...

seventh heaven: James Patterson

Posted 26th February 2008 at 07:13 PM by Ezteq
this is the seventh outing for Sarge Lindsey Boxer and her pals, the womans murder club and although I read it in about 6 hours I have to say its a very enjoyable book.

The usual serial killer running wild terrorising the neighbourhood, romantic entanglements and friendship issues crop up in this book but as with most long running serial books it usually tends not to be about the actual plot line any more but mroe like visiting old friends, you know the characters and you want to...
