Blaze: Stephen King/Richard Bachman

Posted 1st April 2008 at 09:58 AM by Ezteq
This book was written in the 70s (ask your parents...it was an era) by Stephen King under the guise of RB, it follows the Bachman style of writing in that it is dark and has a definate streak of melancholy, similar to the long walk and the running man.

Its a good story about circumstance and how things can change drastically for people, the lead character Clayton Blaisdale aka Blaze starts life as a bright little boy but after being thrown down the stairs by his drunken father his life takes a different path, there are some really sad moments (I wont say heartbreaking because although I found it sad it didn't have the spiteful twist of the knife that king uses when he really wants to upset his readers) but its not a depressing book, it also has funny and tender moments too.

If i could compare it to anything else he has written I'd say its most like Stand by me in feel although not in storyline.

As always I remain an ardent Stephen King fangirl and his talent and unpretentious way of writing is something I totally love.

I couldn't agree more. Stephen King is the guy who turned me onto books when I was a wee lad.
