Funcom's (lack of) service
To keep the story short: Funcom did a direct debit from my bank account and so did a dozen other parties on the same day. The account couldn't cover all transactions (it was over the limit) as I had some money coming in later to my account. My bank was so funny and charged back all the transactions even though there was only not enough cover to process one, sending me into some potential trouble with the people who tried to debit it.
So it got charged back, it was clearly my fault, but I manually transferred it back to Funcom the very same day it got charged back. So I've paid for the service, Funcom could only request from me to pay the fee for the charge back, which I offered to do. What Funcom did instead was: 1. Suspended my account without telling me in the middle of the subscription perioid. 2. Upon my petition called me a liar, telling me that a bank never does a charge back on its own. 3. Asked me to send them a color copy of my ID and credit card in order to repopen my account. 4. Didn't allow me to make any new payments, regardless of payment type (German giro or credit card). 5. Fubared their firewall, so an to them email would bounce back with 2 days delay and a "connection refussed". I am quite angry with their policy. Needless to say none of the other parties who got their money charged back but received it from me on the same day made any problems. Not sure what to do, after they fucked up the graphics system for me so I can barely play the game I am almost ready just to skip this game. Any of you made similar experiences with the billing/support? |

they are trying all kind of shit atm. they are also trying to do a "GOA" IE charge cancelled accounts claiming it were on auto renewal.
happened to me this month and i instantly filed a fraud complaint against them. hoping i can put some hurt on the fuckers. but about you're issue. send them the colour copy of the ID card but u'd be stupid if you sent one of you're CC. thats asking to be stolen from. and feel free to tell them that to. basically what they are asking for is you're full CC number. /edit: but if you're that unhappy about the game i wouldn't bother with it. despite what they say the game is NOT going well. and i have no problem what so ever to see this game close within a year.

They asked me to clear 4 numbers of the CC, but the GM was fucking dumb as the payment was made with something else and not the CC. I bet he didn't even check with the company doing the payments for them.
As for the game itself, I am going causal on MMOGs, I see me playing it from time to time and getting 80 slowly, no idea how it will be by then. |

well, then i suggest you go to the bank, tell them about you're problem and see if they can't call FC support and tell them that they in fact DID charge back the transaction on their own.
and i'm still sceptical about sending a color photo of any CC card. but if you do, dont just photoshop the first 12 digits. put a piece of hard non transparent piece of plastic over it so they cant reverse the photoshopping. so do that or just send in photo copies of the stuff you did use to pay with. just make sure you only provide enough to prove you're point. cover up everything non relevant that they dont need. but get in touch with you're bank anyway, more often then not they are happy to help and if things really hits the shitter, provide some legal cover for you to use. |

I've sent them the email that got back; via their web-system, that should cover it. If they continue to insist on the copies, they have a customer less.

Hardly about AoC itself, rather about Funcom's billing department/GMs.

Never had any trouble with the billing system myself, but I cancelled about a month ago because of the "out of memory" bugs which got worse and worse each patch. Shame because it was such a good game at release

After one another rather semi-friendly petition by me, where I asked to escalate the issue to a senior GM or someone from the billing department and told them to tell me if they want me as a customer or not the issue was resolved within a couple of hours.

Mistakes happen, I transferred the money the same day again to them and offered to compensate the charge back fee, from there it's just a matter of professionalism of how you deal with it, yelling fraud isn't professional. It's funny that you think that you are in the position to educate me on anything bar a DAoC PvE-raid really Soulja, where does your conviction come from? :P |
