This a TFT or CRT?

Either way, it's sounding like a dry joint. If you feel up to it, crack it open (excercising huge caution of course, this is very dangerous and shocks from either TFT's or CRTs are very hard to shake off) and resolder the connector just to make sure.

Naturally if it's under warranty, go down that route first.

TFT monitors have a very limited space to work with the power supply, so if it's internal to the monitor (i.e. the kettle lead goes straight into the screen) it could be overheating a bit and the wiggling merely allows it to remake the connection.
