Leveling to 50 really shouldn't be an issue. If they keep the exp the same as it is now (or even just give some exp bonuses) then it's less than a day's playtime. Anyone who's going to be put off by having to do 20 hours of exping really isn't going to play for more than a month on the server anyway now are they.
The problem is we don't miss old frontiers. We miss the fact that the game was new and the attitudes towards zerging was different. There was enough new players that set groups could kill the zerg, and rp's were hard enough to get that your average DAoC newbies didn't have purge and stuff to stop them.
Fast forward to today and people won't accept being RR3 for 2 months. There won't be a constant churn of RR1 players for the set groups to zerg surf and what will happen is a big zerg v zerg v zerg stand off in email bowl. Zergs were only fun in OF because the players in them were new to the game and the experienced players could still fight them and win.
The 15 minute wait for porters has to exist for old frontiers or else you'll get the equivalent of putting 700 people into thidranki and watching what happens. What the porters did was mean that when you killed someone they stayed gone for 15 minutes, so the good groups were the only ones around 10 minutes after the porter had done his magic. The mistake of NF was in allowing zergs to port back 3 seconds later so you couldn't kill them. Make that mistake on an old emain map and you'll kill it.
Yet everyone here is wanting the porters removed.. So you want 300 people at each milegate all the time without any way of removing them?? Some people really are clueless.
