The Wii comes with a composite cable (yellow for picture and white and red for audio - white is for mono sound )
All Wii's come with Wii Sports and One Wiimote and one nunchuck.
A sensible purchase is to get Wii Play which gives you 5 or 6 mini games which can be fun and help you get used to the remote plus you get a remote with the game so you just need to purchase another nunchuck for full on two player action i.e. boxing and battle tanks.
I've not played Mario Kart myself as I can't say I've ever really been a fan.
Games I've currently got are Endless Ocean (diving simulator and only really one for those who are into diving simulators (sic)) and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (an on rails horror shooter, just like in the arcades).
I've had a go at Zelda: The Twilight Princess and tbh it's not my sort of thing but if you're into 3d RPG puzzle solving type games then go for it as it's supposed to be the best. I've only kept hold of my mate's copy cos it is needed to help you run the Twilight hack so you can run homebrew on your wii i.e. Megadrive/SNES/NES/Gameboy emulators etc.
I'm sure someone else will come along who's played a fair few more games than I have on the wii but I love it just the same. Great fun with friends and family.
