Yeah the mobo's make a beep sound, if its one short beep it means everything is fine to boot from bios and then your OS starts to kick in.
If not comfortable going tinkering with everything, i'd at least check the ram. You can't really harm much by just reseating ram
And check your cpu fan isn't clogged up.
